BACKGROUND |
|
The Houston Hoops basketball program is based on the involvement in athletics as a medium to address some of the many problems which face our youth today; specifically, problems with substance abuse and early withdrawal from school. Participating in athletics is one way of helping youth to stay in school and feel good about themselves and others by developing a positive and caring attitude.
The success of the Houston Hoops program has steadily grown and obtained national recognition since its first year of existence. The first team was formed in 1986 to compete in Houston leagues and state-wide tournaments. The Houston Hoops has since opened its doors to youth from all walks of life with the goal of making a difference in their lives. The Hoops started to travel nationwide and quickly became known as one of the elite youth programs in the USA. Their reputation spread and top players throughout the south joined the program. The Houston Hoops has reached out to hundreds of youth and their families from all communities.
