• July 24, 2011: AAU Nationals & Super Showcase - At the AAU DI Nationals in Orlando this week, the Houston Hoops went 2-1 in pool play with wins over Tampa Bay Warriors 65-23, Southern Kings Select 70-48, and a loss to Oklahoma Phenoms 56-66. In bracket play, they defeated Fast Team Sports 53-44 and lost to Triple A Stallions 60-35. In the second round consolation bracket, they lost to Team Scan/KYDA (the eventual 10th place finishers) 52-34. At the AAU SUper Showcase, the team went 3-0 in pool play, defeating the NJ Pirates 88-44, Tampa Bay Warriors 73-38, and BFS Blackout Elite 74-38. In bracket play, they defeated the BOCA PAL Vipers (who took 4th place at AAU D1 Nationals) 62-32, before losing in the semin-finals to E1T1 Dynasty 71-61. AAU DII Nationals Update - The Houston Hoops White took 14th Place at the AAU DII Nationals in Orlando this week. In pool play, they went 2-1 57-28 v. PG Redeemers, 48-66 v. SJ Blitz, 4846 v. CPhase Elte. In the Championship BRacket, they defeated Midwest Select 41-31, Madison Spartans 58-55, Emery Elite 47-42, Acadmy Basketball 58-36, before losing to Net Gain First Class 51-60.

• July 6, 2011: Kudos to Jarren Greenwood on finalizing school year…receiving Welch Warriors Award (student of distinction) maintaining Honor Roll Status & being overall good citizen. Truly the best way to leave middle school with fond memories..acknowledged as Outstanding in football, MVP in basketball , District Champs In Basketball & Track in their zone!

• June 19, 2011: The Houston Hoops 14U team won the 15U division championship at the Juneteenth Classic this weekend.
• June 17, 2011: Kyle Brown, Jordan Davis, & Jarren Greenwood are included in the highlight reel from the 2011 John Lucas International Middle School Combine courtesy of CityLeaguesHoopTV.com - go to our video highlights page to check it out.
• June 6, 2011: The Houston 14U team took 2nd place at the AAU District Qualifier this weekend. The team won pool games against Team Sneed and GCBC-Will to take the #1 seed in bracket play. In the bracket, they defeated Buc Select and the Texas Running Rebels before losing the championship (by 2 pts) to the Defenders Select.

• May 15, 2011: The 14U Houston Hoops took 1st place at the Summer Prep Showcase this weekend - see photo below. They had wins over the ISTI All Stars, Katy Heat (x2), and Lake Travis 2015.
• April 24, 2011: The 14U Houston Hoops took 2nd place in the 15U Platinum Division of the Las Vegas Easter Showdown this weekend. They went 2-1 in pool play with a 1 point loss to the 15U Las Vegas Prospects and wins over Elite Terminal from Utah and the Arizona Aces Black. In bracket play, they defeated the Las Vegas Knicks and Soldiers Las Vegas before meeting up with the Las Vegas Prospects again in the championship. The 15U Prospects took the title with a 1 point win over the 14U Houston Hoops.
• April 17, 2011: The 14U Houston Hoops won the 15U Gold Division Championship at the H-Town Classic this weekend. They went 1-1 in pool play with a win over the Sugar Land Shooters (48-47) and a loss to the Edwards Bulldogs (49-51). In bracket play, they defeated GCBC Bullet, First Level Bulls, Edwards Bulldogs, and finally the Houston Cowboys Black to take home the title.
• March 28, 2011: The 14U Houston Hoops took home the 15U Championship of the Off Da Hook tournament this weekend. They won their pool with wins over the Sugarland Shooters, Screamin Eagles, and Fast Breakers. In bracket play, they defeated the Panthers, San Antonio Elite, and the Sugarland Shooters to claim the title.

• March 13, 2011: At Blue Chip Shootout this weekend, the Houston Hoops took 1st in their pool with wins over Cy Fair Elite (54-22) & Basketball University (54-16). In bracket play, they defeated the Gulf Coast Blue Chips (52-43) and lost in the final four to AAA Stallions (50-64).
• February 21, 2011: The Houston Hoops made it to the Final Four in the 42-team 8th grade division of the prestigious Gym Rats Presidents Day Tournament in Portland, Oregon. They dominated their pool with decisive wins over Just Ice (82-10), NWC Regulators (67-37), and Bay Area Supriem (68-47). In bracket play, they defeated the San Diego Saints (62-43) and Team FAST (46-40), before being eliminated by the Cincy Knights (58-43).
• February 16, 2011: Jarren Greenwood along with his teammates had a very competitive season & went undefeated to win District title against Dowling.
• February 13, 2011: The team took 1st place at the Star R Born tournament this weekend. In "super pool" play, they had wins over the Houston Defenders Select (48-37), Texas Running Rebels (58-38), and GCBC Bullet (52-47). In bracket play, they defeated Houston Elite (61-29), Texas Running Rebels (68-63), and GCBC Bullet (64-46) to take the title.
• February 12, 2011: CJ Simmons led Pearland West JH today with 38 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks in their double OT loss in Conference tournament. In the previous game, he led the team to a win over Fairmont with 26 points, 4 assists, and 9 rebounds.
• February 2, 2011: Congratulations to the following Houston Hoops 8th graders for being selected to attend the International Middle School Combine in May - Jordan Hunter, Coleman Edwards, Nicholas Garth, Laurynce Andrus, Jarren Greenwood, Jordan Davis, Charles Simmons, Caleb Thomas, Dorian Chatman. Their hard work is not going unnoticed!

• January 29, 2011: Coleman Edwards racked up 28 points, 7 assists, 8 steals, and 6 rebounds today for Lake Olympia Middle School.  In addition, he was nominated and selected as a member of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council 2011 in Washington, DC. This is a true academic honor and he will attend the National Young Leaders State Conference here in Houston June 16th-19th.

• January 27, 2011: Jarren Greenwood led Welch Middle School in District play to a 59-56 win over Pershing Middle School.  Jarren scored 37 points, 8 steals, and 7 rebounds.
• January 24, 2011: Nicholas Garth posted 31 points, 4 steals, 5 rebounds & 3 assists in game Watkins game vs. Truitt. On January 10, he had 27pts, 5 rebounds, & 3 steals in the team's win over Dean.
  
• January 20, 2011: Kyle Brown led Billy Baines Middle School to a 46-20 victory over Dulles yesterday with 22 pts, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 5 rebounds.
• January 18, 2011: Last week, Jordan Hunter along with his 8th grade Hamshire Fannett Longhorns team defeated their top district rival the West Orange-Stark Mustangs. Jordan scored 33 points with 12 assists, and 5 rebounds, a double-double. They also went undefeated in the Port Neches-Groves basketball tournament this past weekend winning first in their super pool.
• January 16, 2011: At the Hype Sports Winter Jam this weekend, the 14U Houston Hoops went 2-0 in pool play with wins over a very tough and talented A&M Elite team and a big win over Urban DFW. In bracket play, they defeated the San Antonio Jayhawks (69-48), but lost a close one in the semifinals to Team Texas (52-49).
• January 2011: In December, Jarren Greenwood led Welch Middle School to a first place finish in the Westbriar MS tournament. Earlier in December, Jaren was named MVP of the 3rd place game at the Stars of the Future tournament.
• January 3, 2011: Three Houston Hoops 14U players made the Top 5 at John Lucas' Camp Right Way last week - congrats to Dorian Chatman, Charles Simmons, and Jarren Greenwood - great job! Click here for Houston Boys Basketball article.
• December 29, 2010: Players from the 14U Houston Hoops represented very well at the John Lucas Right Way Camp this week. We are very proud of them!
• December 19, 2010: The start of a new season! The Houston Hoops 14U took 2nd place at the Ronald Searles Holiday Classic today. They won big against tough teams in Bryan Elite & Killeen Excel to take 1st in their pool. In bracket play, they had a big win against a good Houston Rookies team and a tough win vs Oklahoma Elite. They lost the championship game to a talented Team Texas (68-69). The guys played very hard and left it all on the floor today.
